What is Google search console ? previously known as Google Webmaster Tool.

Google Search Console
( Google webmaster tool )

Are you new to search engine optimization? Then before starting optimizing your website, sign up for Google Search Console (Previously called Google Webmaster tool).
Search Console is a free web service by Google that allows you to check what's happening with your website/blog. This helps you to decide based on the data instead of optimizing blindly.
Here are the steps to explain how it works.
The first thing to be done after logging in is adding your blog/website link and verify the ownership by choosing either of four below options.
1.    HTML File: Upload an HTML file to your website and click on verify once uploaded.
2.    HTML Tag: Copy, paste the Meta tag given under this tab on your website and click on verify.
3.    Google Tag Manager:  You need to login to your GTM account if you have already registered to verify the ownership. Single click and it's verified.
4.     Google Analytics: You need to login to your Analytics account if you have already registered to verify the ownership. Single click and it's verified.
5.    Domain Name provider: You need to sign in to your hosting provider site to add a new DNS record.
Out of all options, my favorite and super easy method of verifying ownership is using GTM tool or Analytics tool as no extra code needs to be added to your website.

This is how the Search Console dashboard looks like.  Here we you see the performance overview and inspect URLs of your blog/website.  This is one of the important tabs to check your URL status. Test live and resubmit if the site/blog is not indexed yet.

Under Index tool, Coverage shows data of which pages Google can index and explain why if it can’t index. Sitemap shows you the data of URLs of your blog/site found on Google and can submit new.

Here you can see if your website/blog has any manual actions that might block it from appearing in Google Search.

The other important tool is Links. Here you can see all the hard work of your backlinking. Can see which site link to your blog/site and which anchor text they use. The last but not least, the Settings tab is where we see the ownership details which we did in the beginning.

Conclusion: The new version of Google Search Console is super easy and effective to improve the optimization techniques of your blog/website. If you install Google Analytics and Search Console to your blog/site, trust me!  You can see wonders!!
